SEMA Bars Ford Mustang GTD Clone at Automaker's Request

The Ford Mustang GTD is staggeringly expensive and should offer extreme performance for buyers brave enough to push it, but its exclusive price tag has already led some to look for the next best thing. Unfortunately for one SEMA presenter, the “next best thing” was a GTD lookalike, and Ford didn’t take kindly to the display.

However, the investigation looks to have determined that the automaker had already addressed the issue in an earlier recall.

So will Chevy, and its Colorado ZR2 will functionally go anywhere anyone might need it to for around the $60,000 mark. Ford, of course, has its answer to the do-everything off-road truck equation.

Ford Files Patent for Targeted Ads Inside the Vehicle

It even seems to respond to how vehicle occupants react to the chosen marketing materials. If that sounds rather invasive to you, then you’re probably not alone.

QOTD: How Do We Fight the Speeding Surveillance State?

I am a firm believer that while excessive speeding is dangerous and bad, not all speeding is.

For example, driving 11 mph over the limit on the freeway in a well-maintained car when you're dead sober and paying complete attention isn't that dangerous. Driving 60 mph in a school zone is.

I also firmly believe that speeding enforcement is often more about revenue collection than safety.

  • ToolGuy Doesn't matter, EVs don't work, even if they do I mean did they won't I mean wouldn't have the range to drive to the track. Plus the world is running out of electricity (and there is no way to make more). The panel gaps on EVs are aerodynamically problematic, especially Porsche. No one can afford EVs. There is no place (literally -no- place) to charge, and even if you do I mean could it will I mean would crash the U.S. electrical grid and there is no way to restart it, ever. Drivers will grow old and die waiting for the vehicle to charge. EV racing will never benefit the environment the way that ICE racing does and has and will. The batteries cost more than the vehicle and that cost goes up every minute. All electricity is dirty and nasty and not wholesome like petroleum. EVs are slow (as in the opposite of quick) and the point of a drag race is quick. I can't hear well because of ICE and what happens when a silent EV runs over me at the track? It is a good thing that the EV thing ended when it did and will never return. I for one am relieved.
