How The High Price Of Performance Cars Impacts Car Culture
Today's TTAC podcast will speak to the car enthusiast's heart.
Chris Cervenka from Modified Muscle comes on the podcast and discusses the high price of performance cars, and how that hurts car culture.
Also, TTAC contributor Matthew Guy and I go over snow brushes for your car and we give our opinions about the NASCAR trial -- unfortunately, we couldn't foresee that they'd settle before we went live. Check back next week to hear Guy and I discuss the outcome of the settlement.
You can find us wherever you get your podcasts or by clicking here. If you like what you hear, please leave a review!
We thank Matthew Guy and Chris Cervenka for their time and Matt Posky for editing. Most of all, we thank you for listening!
We'll see you next time!

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

Starting and running every time I need it while leaving no pieces on the road is my idea of "performance". I may have low T.
A Miata can be had for under 30. GTIs are still reasonable as is the Jetta GLI. GR86 is reasonable. Plenty of choices out there. If you look at things like the Mustang now versus even back in the 90s sure, it costs more, but it's performance envelope is also vastly higher.
