Most of the top automakers in the U.S. saw new vehicle sales slump in the first quarter, many of them pointing to big drops in March sales as the cause for Q1 deficits.

Although electric vehicle sales have been down since last fall, the reveal of the all-new EV3 at the New York International Auto Show shows that Kia’s not bailing out of the segment. 

Kia’s ongoing revamp of its SUV lineup continues with the reveal of a larger, wider, and roomier 2027 Seltos at the New York Auto Show. 

The New York International Auto Show is right around the corner, Kia’s hype machine is ramping up, offering up an obscured look at the 2027 Seltos SUV a week before the ute debuts.

The flagship of the Kia lineup, the three-row Telluride has been a big hit for the Korean brand since its 2020 debut. Unlike many new models, the popularity of the Telluride never waned, with sales increasing every year since its launch.

As a whole, automakers reported a solid sales month in February; however, the actual numbers varied wildly depending upon the company, ranging from Kia setting a new record to Subaru suffering nearly a double-digit decline.

We end the week with a recall of the 2025 Kia Telluride.

Although many automakers are bolstering their hybrid model offerings as electric vehicle (EV) sales decline, some plug-in hybrids aren’t making the cut. The latest to go? The 2026 Kia Niro PHEV.

January typically brings in some bitterly cold days, and while that’s been true for the weather across parts of the country, new vehicle sales were just the opposite as Kia, Hyundai, and Toyota reported big jumps to kick off 2026.

A whole slew of Kia models are under recall for possible instrument panel failure.

Kia America is rightfully bragging about having broken its own personal record with 852,155 sales under its belt for the whole of 2025. That’s a seven percent increase over 2024 and helps support claims that pricing remains an essential component for plenty of car buyers.

At about the same time my watch was vibrating me awake for the 2025 Los Angeles Auto Show media day, I heard the unmistakable sounds of a band playing 30-odd floors below.

Kia teased the next Telluride's design earlier this month, and now we know, well, the rest of the story as it pertains to the 2027 Kia Telluride. Kia gave us the final details at the 2026 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Kia has announced that it will be partnering with Disney to offer customizable infotainment screens, featuring the “beloved characters from the studio’s most iconic entertainment brands.” Depending upon your personal preferences and (let’s be honest) gender, this corporate collaboration could either be wonderful news or one of the sadder things you’ve learned this week.

Despite constant assurances from the industry that cybersecurity is everyone’s top priority, there’s been another massive data breach. This time it affects the personal data of up to 2.7 million Hyundai Motor Group customers — potentially encompassing addresses, phone numbers, driver’s licenses, and even Social Security numbers.

What do you do if you're tasked with designing the 2027 Kia Telluride? You have a popular SUV that's in demand in part because of its boxy looks.

So you don't want to change that -- but you need to tweak things enough that consumers know this model is new.

It’s looking like North America won’t be getting the Kia EV4 because the model has been indefinitely delayed for the United States. Since the reason given by the manufacturer pertains to changing market conditions, and we’ve noticed a general lack of interest in all-electric models here, odds are good that both you and Kia aren’t going to be bothered by its absence.

The Kia Soul has been around longer than you probably think. It debuted back in 2009 and has become a popular model for the brand in the time since, though it outgrew the funky hamster commercials it became known for early on. Kia recently announced the end of the Soul’s run, saying 2025 would be the crossover’s last.

The Kia Telluride debuted for the 2019 model year, becoming an almost overnight success for the automaker. It has remained one Kia’s more popular vehicles in the time since, but it’s starting to show its age among its more recently updated competitors. Kia is addressing that problem for the 2027 model year, giving the Telluride a complete redesign, pushing it into its second generation.

A South Carolina man reportedly drove a Kia Telluride up Black Bear Road on Wednesday and immediately got stuck, resulting in the complete closure of the off-road pass that leads to the town the vehicle is named after.

Kia’s first EVs with Tesla NACS ports debuted this year, giving them a much wider range of charging options in the wild. The automaker is now giving owners another charging upgrade with Plug & Charge functionality.

We have another Kia recall.

We’ve lost something with the switch from sedans to crossovers. The lower ride height of sedans creates a more engaging driving experience. Their lesser weight means better fuel economy. And arguably, the three-box format allows for better design. But we’ve gained something, too. Crossovers are more practical thanks to more cargo space, better sight lines over traffic, and raised ride heights that give them better ingress and egress.

The year 2025 is somehow already almost half over, and we have some more sales results. This time, it's Kia.

I had a run of eight of the last 12 Junkyard Find articles being GM products, and we're finally going to take a break from The General… for now. Instead of a Trans Sport Montana or first-gen Cavalier, we're going to follow up one gloom-inducing Great Recession vehicle with another: an ultra-rare example of the single-model-year Kia Borrego, found in a Denver car graveyard last week.

A pair of former Kia employees have been accused of stealing 1,008 engines from the factory over a period of at least three years. The scheme was worth an estimated $2.3 million. However, the police allegedly said that the real cost was the "widespread impact on industrial operations, stakeholder trust and employment security.”

The Kia EV9 arrived for the 2024 model year to mostly positive reviews, but one glaring issue has always been its price. Top trims’ price tags far exceeded the numbers anyone expected to pay for a Kia, but some variants are becoming less expensive for 2026.

I am back in Chicago after a productive whirlwind of two-ish days in Manhattan. The podcast went on the road to the 2025 New York Auto Show!

Kia has a slew of new and updated models at this year’s New York International Auto Show, including the 2026 K4 Hatchback and 2026 EV9 Nightfall Edition. The two vehicles join the new EV4 sedan on the Kia stage at the show.

Kia used this year’s New York International Auto Show as the stage to reveal the new EV4, its first electric sedan. Expected to launch in early 2026, the car will arrive with up to 330 miles of range, a 400-volt platform, and a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port out of the box.

I am in New York for the 2025 New York Auto Show. It's that time of year again.

We’ve known about the Kia Tasman pickup for a while now, but it was always assumed the truck wouldn’t be available to American buyers. While that’s still true, the automaker’s CEO recently confirmed that it was working on a pickup truck for the U.S., but it won’t be the Tasman.

While Kia and Hyundai have acknowledged challenges in the EV market, both have continued pushing forward with new models and tech. Kia used its recent EV Day event to show a handful of new electric models, including the EV2, a small electric crossover.

While the “never minivan” people have a point about the vehicles being boring to drive and bulky, the new Kia PV5 might be cool enough to change some minds. The automaker revealed the van at its EV Day in Spain this week, showing three body styles and a load of features that take advantage of its skateboard-like underpinnings.

The Kia EV4 is due for release soon, and we’re learning more about the new electric model as the date approaches. CarScoops recently reported that all EV4 variants will get the simulated gear-shifting system from the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, suggesting that Kia wants its new EV to offer at least a few thrills.

A few years ago, I made the ill-advised decision to place a deposit for the then-exciting Canoo van. While I’ll never, ever see that vehicle due to the company’s recent bankruptcy, Kia just revealed what could be a worthy replacement. The Korean automaker’s new PV5 van is funky and boxy in all the right ways, and the production version is finally ready.

One of my favorite things to do while exploring American car graveyards is searching for very early examples of vehicles made by marques new to the United States market. This has been a challenge with Kia, because Kia Motors America got off to such a slow sales start and almost none of the handful of mid-1990s vehicles sold are still around several decades later. Here's one of the first Sportages brought to our shores, found in a yard south of Denver, Colorado.
