Report: Kia To Debut Next-Gen Telluride At the LA Auto Show Next Month
The Kia Telluride debuted for the 2019 model year, becoming an almost overnight success for the automaker. It has remained one Kia’s more popular vehicles in the time since, but it’s starting to show its age among its more recently updated competitors. Kia is addressing that problem for the 2027 model year, giving the Telluride a complete redesign, pushing it into its second generation.
Motor1 reported that the new Telluride will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. It’s expected to arrive with hybrid powertrain options, all-new exterior styling, a completely redesigned interior, and a load of new tech features. Many expect the Telluride to borrow styling elements from the electric EV9, which sports Kia’s new brand design language.
Like the current Telluride, the new SUV will come packed with helpful tech and interior features. It may adopt some of the technology features seen in the recently updated Hyundai Palisade, which would include large panoramic displays and built-in camera features.
The hybrid powertrain should be the same one seen in the new Palisade, which employs an electric motor for a combined 329 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque. Kia will likely continue offering the gas-only powertrain, which is a 3.5-liter V6.
The Telluride started life as a great value, with an all-in price tag that stayed under $50,000. Kia hasn’t been able to hold the line on that price, but the SUV hasn’t become extremely expensive over the years, as the current range-topping SX Prestige X-Pro starts at under $54,000 and offers a ton of features. The new model is expected to become slightly more expensive, however, so we’ll have to wait and see if the Telluride outgrows its strong value proposition.
