Porsche offers a mind-blowing number of trims and configuration options for almost every vehicle it sells, and the Taycan product line just got even more complex. The automaker announced updates to its sporty EV for 2025, which includes three new trims and better performance.

Porsche has issued a recall for 1,851 vehicles due to defective center-locking wheel nuts that may fracture, posing a serious safety risk.

Even the hottest performance cars have become bigger and heavier over the years, and the trend has reached the point that more basic, lightweight cars have become “special.” Porsche’s latest entry to the space takes that approach, as it’s the lightest 911 Carrera variant on sale today.

Having already pivoted its highest-volume model to run on all-electric power, Porsche is now considering building internal combustion variants of EVs. We appear to have come full circle on electrification in roughly the same time frame the industry previously assumed they’d become the dominant mode of transportation.

We don’t spend a ton of time talking about six-figure sports cars here at TTAC, but a new Porsche 911 is worth a look. The automaker recently announced the updated 2025 911 GT3, which lands with a revised suspension system, sharper styling, and improved aerodynamic bodywork.

Porsche has apparently been working on a six-stroke engine and even filed a patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) along with the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca. The motor is said to offer enhanced efficiency and power, along with cleaner combustion. However, it’s fairly common for the industry to promise the moon after announcing the revival of odd-ball technologies from the past or some totally novel powertrain.

Several automakers offer free public charging vouchers with new EV purchases, and the latest electric Porsche won’t be an exception. The automaker recently announced that 2025 Macan EV buyers would receive a year of free 30-minute charging sessions at Electrify America (EA) stations.

The Porsche Taycan is one of the most stunning performance EVs around, but it’s never offered the best range estimates to go with its breathtaking acceleration. That’s changing for the 2025 model year, as the base Taycan with an upgraded battery will be able to travel 318 miles on a charge.

Porsche is increasingly leaning into electrification, and the new hybrid Panamera shows that adding electricity can bring significant performance improvements. The 2025 Panamera lineup recently expanded with two new variants, including the gas-only GTS and Turbo S E-Hybrid.

The GTS is expected to get a 4.0-liter V8, making 493 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque. The Turbo S E-Hybrid will sport 771 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque, making it more powerful and faster around the Nurburgring than the new BMW M5.

Porsche showed off the new Macan EV earlier this year, but there were only two expensive variants announced. Now, the automaker has revealed two new versions, including a rear-wheel drive model with a surprisingly “reasonable” price tag.

Prior to its hitting dealer lots, the new top dog Porsche Panamera has felled a lap time at the famed Nürburgring.

Bad puns in the headline aside, Porsche has some electrification plans that might not sit well with you.

With Porsche planning to eliminate its more affordable combustion models for the sake of fleet-wide electrification, there has been a lot of speculation on how well that will play out for the company in the long run. While one would hope their brand-new vehicle would have a measure of quality right out of the box, analytics company J.D. Power nevertheless continues to issue awards for vehicles which manage to not fall apart in the first three months of ownership.

Though it was absent for the 2024 model year, Porsche’s bringing it back for 2025 with a range of improvements over the outgoing SUV that make it even more compelling than before.

Audi’s all-electric e-tron subbrand continues suffering from battery issues, with the company recently issuing a recall for the GT sedan and its zestier RS variant. The issue is that the high-voltage batteries equipped to the models might short circuit, posing a fire risk to owners and whatever they’ve parked their EV next to. The recall report stipulates that Porsche warned Audi of the possibility of “thermal events” after realizing that some Taycan models were suffering from battery defects.

The Porsche 718 is now dead in Europe after it failed to meet the European Union’s so-called “cybersecurity” regulations. The Cayman and Boxster be joining the gasoline-powered Macan SUV in the afterlife, which encountered its own regional demise for similar reasons. While all models will reportedly return as electric vehicles, we know things will never be the same.

For years, the possibility of a hybridized Porsche 911 has been the topic of much discussion among enthusiasts. Some said the move would spoil the recipe, suggesting the brand create an entirely new model for electrification like it did with the Taycan. Others believed the potential performance gains associated with hybridization were too lofty to ignore, often citing the legendary Porsche 918 as proof. Regardless of which camp you happen to occupy, Porsche is indeed building a hybrid 911 and has even confirmed its official debut for this summer.

Thousands of vehicles manufactured under the umbrella of Volkswagen Group are being held at U.S. ports for allegedly violating the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA). Enacted in 2021, the law is supposed to prohibit the utilization of slave labor in Western China. While the impacted automakers include Porsche, Bentley and Audi, we’ve seen plenty of brands being accused of leveraging forced labor in the Xinjiang region of China, where the country is said to have forcibly concentrated the Uyghur ethnic minority.

While we’re constantly hearing about tightening emissions regulations, the relevant timelines issued by government actors are rarely adhered to. As always, I try to pick used cars of the day that you, the B and B, would find interesting. Regardless of quality/price/mileage. But sometimes my biases show. The Acura RSXs that show up here are indicative of that. So, too, is today's pick -- a 2006 Porsche Cayman S.

The point of this feature, since it appears lost on some of you, is to pick out interesting/quirky cars. A manual-transmission 2011 Porsche Cayenne strikes me as unusual. I am not sure I knew this vehicle was ever offered with three pedals.

Today's used car of the day is a manual-transmission 2010 Porsche Cayman S that comes to us from Dallas.

Porsche wasn’t the first to jump onto the Apple CarPlay train years ago, but the automaker has fully embraced the technology. The Taycan EV recently gained the ability to map charging locations in Apple Maps, rather than using its in-built navigation system, giving owners more options with Apple’s friendly interface.

The Porsche 718 Spyder has always delivered a thrilling open-top driving experience, but there’s a new variant coming that promises to up the ante significantly. The 2024 718 Spyder RS borrows the 4.0-liter flat-six from the 718 Cayman GT4 RS and combines it with Porsche’s excellent seven-speed PDK transmission. Power output is prodigious, at 493 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque. 

Porsche will reportedly be raising prices between 4 and 8 percent on the European and U.S. markets during the second half of 2023 to cope with higher operating costs noted in its first-quarter earnings announcement. Even so, higher-end brands appear to be doing fairly well at present, and Porsche itself noted that operating profits rose to €1.84 billion ($2.03 billion USD) while revenue increased to €10.1 billion in Q1 — which is about 25 percent higher than they were last year.

We could debate whether the Cayenne saved Porsche until the cows come home, but there’s no denying the SUV’s appeal and popularity in the automaker’s lineup. The SUV’s getting a refresh for 2024, but it’s not the mild facelift we often see in the industry. Porsche’s giving the Cayenne better powertrains, a revised interior with more screens, and upgraded suspension.

The Carrera GT is one of the most sought-after Porsche models of all time, and its seven-digit sales price numbers reflect its exceeding rarity. Even so, the car, which was last produced 17 years ago, has a new recall. 

We’ve been hearing about Porsche’s electric ambitions for a while, and the automaker has confirmed that the Macan will be powered by electrons soon. A short while ago, there were strong rumors that the automaker would build an ultra-high-end EV to slot in above the Cayenne, and it recently clarified how its next few years would play out from a product perspective.

Porsche is going electric, shifting decades of motorsport and engineering knowledge to completely novel propulsion systems and platforms. The Taycan arrived in 2020 with mind-bending performance, and we’ve seen spy images of an electric 718, so it’s not a huge surprise to learn that the automaker is planning an electric seven-seat SUV to compete with the latest and greatest from Mercedes and BMW. 

The Porsche 911 Dakar is set to join the ranks of ultra-cool but ultra-expensive and difficult-to-find models in the automaker’s vast catalog, but that hasn’t stopped it from offering upgrades for the car. To celebrate the car’s rally roots, Porsche announced a series of retro wraps inspired by the brand’s run in the East African Safari Rally and the Paris-Dakar Rally in the 1970s and 80s.

People have been building wild off-road Porsche models in garages and custom shops for years, so it wasn’t surprising to see the automaker get into the action with its own beefy 911 model late last year. The 911 Dakar is absolutely unobtainium, however, as the company is only making 2,500 of them. There is hope for people who missed out, as Porsche’s chairman told Car Magazine that more classic and rugged models are coming.

We’ve been hearing about Porsche’s eFuel program for a while, but the automaker only recently opened its first production facility for the innovative gasoline alternative. The facility will start with a modest 34,000-gallon annual output before ramping to a massive 14.5 million-gallon-per-year figure by the middle of the decade.

Porsche released a fairly impressive update for the Taycan EV this month, one that effectively halves the sport sedan’s charging time whilst using a Level 2 charger. 

Matrix headlights didn’t become legal in the United States until early in 2022 after automakers and enthusiasts waited almost a decade for the NHTSA decision. Europeans have enjoyed the technology for years, and automakers have had time to refine their designs. We’re starting to see second-generation LED matrix lighting systems hit the market, including a new one from Porsche.
