Used Car Of The Day: 2001 Jeep Cherokee

Today we serve up for you an off-roading 2001 Jeep Cherokee. Seriously, this one is a mudder.

This one has nearly 200K miles on it and a long list of mods and upgrades. Downsides seem minor -- a minor air leak involving tires, minor brake-fluid leak, and sagging headliner.

There is apparently only a very little rust, the frame is in great shape, and the vehicle is clean inside and out.

You can find this one in the Chicago suburbs for $4,000. Click here for more.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

Chicago and "frame is in great shape" never go together when discussing 20 plus year old vehicles.

  • MaintenanceCosts One of the cleaner-looking 200+k mile cars I've seen. Still fills me with fear and loathing.
  • MaintenanceCosts Looking forward to the ad-free Superb Owl.(Also some kind of football game which my hometown team is favored to win, despite having Joe Lunchpail as their quarterback.)
  • Foaming Solvent Rivian, specifically the soon-to-be-available R2.
  • 1995 SC From any analysis I've seen so far the big winner here is Tesla, which is ironic if that comes to pass lol
