QOTD: What's The Biggest Automotive Tech Bug You've Dealt With?

I had a very minor tale of woe involving Apple CarPlay that I relayed to you today.

Now, I want to hear from you.

Whether it's Apple CarPlay or Android Auto or a factory infotainment system, what tech bug has bothered you?

For instance, early in the days of one of Ford's systems, either Sync or MyFordTouch, I had an Explorer brick itself while driving. Thankfully, it was only the infotainment -- the SUV still drove normally. This was before my time at TTAC.

More recently, the first Land Rover Defender I tested for this here site had the radio disappear for 30 minutes before magically reappearing.

For the purposes of this QOTD, let's keep it to infotainment and audio tech, stuff of a digital nature -- otherwise it will be too easy for some of you to point to Lucas Electronics from back in the day. Mechanical issues, even those caused by the computerization of engines, are something we can cover at another time.

With that in mind, sound off below.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

My touchscreen just keeps quoting the "you don't have to follow illegal orders" section of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, which some folks seem to think is reason enough to hang it for sedition.
