QOTD: Time For A New Pony-Car War?
The Chevrolet Camaro is coming back. The Dodge Challenger isn't, as of now, but the Dodge Charger underwent a major makeover and can be had with two doors. The Ford Mustang never left.
Seems like it might be time, once again, for the Detroit Three to engage in a contest involving a bodily function. Metaphorically speaking, of course.
Ford's Mustang still carries the V8 torch, and the Dark Horse is around for those with deep pockets and heavy feet. Dodge's attempt to electrify the Charger has had mixed results, so the brand will also offer you six cylinders of internal-combustion power. Meanwhile, after years of hybridization rumors, it appears the next Camaro will forego electrification, at least for now.
Ah, it's as if some things never change.
Personally, I would be happy to see a renewed pony-car shootout, regardless of powertrain. Competition tends to breed better products and might perhaps lower the shocking sticker prices of V8 Mustangs and well-equipped Chargers.
And Lord knows that we need to have some fun cars available in a market that's dominated by crossover. Cars that are not just fun, but affordable.
What say you? Time for yet another run of pony-car plays among the Detroit Three? And who ever else wants to join?
