Is the Volkswagen ID.Buzz dead for good?

Volkswagen says it's not. So we wonder -- if that's true and it returns as a 2027 model, will it be different?

Will the price drop? Will there be more range? Perhaps a powetrain change -- maybe a range extender?

The much-touted van hasn't sold well. What does it need to do better?

You know the drill. Sound off below.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

This was a very unsurprising result, from the moment they speculated about the price.

The fact that it was an EV-only option wasn't the worst thing, but it definitely limited the consumer demographic as well as contributed to the cost, which ultimately led to its demise.

I think a few more years of development to integrate an ICE drivetrain into this platform, even a range extender, would likely have brought in a few more buyers.

Making it a fully ICE platform would have likely made it cheaper, probably would have sold a lot more, but it might not have been able to be packaged in the way it currently exists, for better or for worse.

I dunno, I'm rambling, basically I wish it looked the same, cost $45k, had a hybrid drivetrain and was sitting in my driveway.

Kia’s PV5 Makes The VW ID. Buzz Look Excessive

VW should just give up completely.

Watching this comparative review of the new Kia PV5 and the Volkswagen ID. Buzz, it looks like Kia might be on to a real winner. The Korean contender costs half as much as the German, it has more interior load volume, it still feels premium inside and the design isn’t trying to relive some 1960s fantasy.
