Stellantis Hints at New or Updated Chrysler EV at CES 2023

The Consumer Electronics Show, or CES, has long been an opportunity for people to discover new video games, computers, and more, but it’s increasingly becoming a significant platform for automaker product announcements. We already knew Stellantis was bringing concepts from Ram and Peugeot, but the automaker recently announced that it would also showcase its other brands. We could even see a new or updated EV from Chrysler.

Chrysler unveiled its Airflow EV concept at last year’s CES, so there’s precedent for flashy announcements at the event. Stellantis’ press release states that its Chrysler display “previews the first North American applications of new Stellantis connectivity and introduces the latest developments in its commitment to launching the first Chrysler battery electric vehicle in 2025 and offer a full battery electric portfolio in 2025.”

It's unclear if that means a new concept or a more production-ready vehicle at CES 2023, but the more exciting news is that Ram is bringing its electric truck concept, the 1500 Revolution. The automaker hasn’t released any specs yet, but we may learn more about the last-to-market electric pickup when CES kicks off in January.

Other CES-bound Stellantis vehicles include the Peugeot Inception Concept, Jeep 4xe vehicles, and the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT BEV concept, complete with its unsettling fake exhaust sound.

    "...the last-to-market electric pickup"

Tesla may earn that distinction instead of Stellantis.

Yeah, this is why companies don't announce their stretch goals publicly.

2019 called, and they want their truck.

Is Ram really that far behind Chevy? And does Chevy offering only $100k versions of the Silverado EV really count as on the market?

The F150 Lightning is the only one that's "on the market" enough that someone let me drive it.

Or maybe it could be an electric Imperial luxury coupe. They don't even have to call it Chrysler this time, and could even hide the Stellantis name.

I'll be interested to hear what Stellantis has to offer.

My next EV purchase is likely to be a pickup truck with a ridiculously long range (1000 miles) to tow my camper. That mileage estimate assumes a 66% range penalty with the trailer, because I'm looking to tow for about 200 miles at a stretch and I want to stay out of the yellow zones below-20% and above-80% when working the battery that hard.

Obviously, nothing that's been announced has the specs I'm looking for, though the Cybertruck comes the closest (but comes with some unexpected tradeoffs).

I'll be very interested to see what Stellantis announces next. If it's an EV, I'm likely to like it because I've liked every EV I've ever driven. If it's a towbeast that can potentially replace my GMC Sierra, I'll be all ears.
