Used Car of the Day: 2006 Audi TT Quattro

Today we're featuring a 2006 Audi TT quattro. Remember the TT? I do. And so does Pepperidge Farm.

This one is a bit of a Frankenstein's monster car -- the body has 209,000 miles on it but the engine, having been swapped in, has about 130K. This one is a stick-shift with a long list of mods.

That list includes the suspension, ignition, exhaust, wheels, and so much more.

TTs were always attractive cars, and the look has aged well. If you're interested in a heavily modified roadster to putter around in for the back half of the summer, click here for more. You can find this one in Massachusetts for $8,700.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

My ex leased one of these, V6 w/auto. Great exhaust note when you put your foot into it. Which is how I drove it most of the time. Let's just say it took punishment really well!.....LOL

The interior was amazing. Beautiful dark blue paint. It looked so much better than this one for some reason. Gawd I loved to drive that car!

I remember shortly after they'd been out I started eyeing the first CPO's but after test-driving one I was extremely conscious that it was a heavy beast for its size (was a turbo and had scoot, but when you went into a turn you felt the heft). I was coming from a 2000 Prelude and the looks weren't worth the driving experience.

Actually do like the wheels on this one, design wise these cars having aged incredibly well. Mechanically different story.
