Should The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Return?
It sure seems like Mitsubishi engineers want the company to bring back the Lancer Evolution.
The question is, should they want it to return? Do you want it to return?
I do, but I am biased. Not towards Mitsubishi -- but towards compact sports cars with high performance. Especially if they offer manual transmissions.
I also think the oft-overlooked brand needs a car that will get buyers excited and into the showroom.
It's old halo-car strategy -- a Lancer Evo could get folks in the door, but they might drive out with an Outlander instead.
So, now it's your turn. What do you think? Sound off below.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

My '96 Eclipse GS-T seems like it came from another planet compared to what Mitsubishi offers today. I'm shocked they are still in business.
That would be awesome but it probably wouldn't sell. Maybe a performance SUV?
