QOTD: Should Stellantis HQ Return to The States?

An incoming senator has pushed for Stellantis to sell off Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram and for those brands to be acquired by an owner based in the U.S.

The question is, would such a move make those brands sell better -- and, perhaps, create some American jobs?

Or are any problems these brands are any complete separate from where the parent company is located?

I mean, it's not like the North American HQ in Auburn Hills has stopped serving that purpose.

Perhaps the issues facing the four American brands owned by Stellantis have been caused by the outgoing Carlos Tavares? Or other factors that have little to do with the nationality of the CEO -- and, as mentioned above, the location of the headquarters?

Just a thought.

Now it's your turn. Sound off below.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.
