Today we have a recall for 2016-2020 Acura ILXs.

Honda is recalling about 70,658 model-year 2016–2020 Acura ILX vehicles due to a brake-related issue. Contaminated brake fluid can cause a seal inside the brake master cylinder to deform, potentially leading to an internal fluid leak and reduced braking performance.

Honda dealers will replace the brake master cylinder at no cost. Interim owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on February 2, 2026, with follow-up letters to be sent once the final remedy is fully available. Affected VINs will be searchable on NHTSA.gov starting December 17, 2025. Honda’s internal recall reference for this issue is RN5.

The NHTSA report also notes that Honda may have been aware of the issue more than five business days before notifying the agency, which could expose the company to potential civil penalties under federal reporting requirements.

I always kind of liked the ILX

On the bright side, the dramatically oversized 'calipers' emblem on the grille provides some additional crush space when the brakes fail. 🙂
