Ford Recalls the 2024 through 2026 Ranger for Side-Curtain Airbag Problem

It’s Friday, so there’s time for another Ford recall before the weekend. This time, it’s every 2024-2026 Ranger built through the end of July of this year over an issue with the side-curtain airbags.

The problem came to light during crash testing conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Ranger passed, barely, but a small cut was discovered in the bag during the post-crash disassembly process. While small, it was big enough to cause the airbag to deflate.

Ford’s investigation revealed that the cuts were caused by the inner reinforcement flanges for the bags, located in the trucks’ B-pillar. Thankfully, no warranty claims, field reports, crashes, or accidents have been reported related to the issue. Owners will be notified soon, and the fix involves installing a protective shield over the flange to protect the airbags during deployment.

The Blue Oval has recorded more recalls than any other automaker this year, and it had set the full-year record in the first six months of 2025. To be fair, many are smaller recalls for non-critical components, but the numbers are surprising. Some of its recalls are proactive actions to address problems, but the more than 100 recalls Ford has issued don’t bode well for its bottom line, and it doesn’t inspire buyer confidence.

This is not a new recall and was announced a while ago.

While not in the article, Ford still stands at 109 recalls for the year.

Small pickup trucks are for small-minded people.

(Get a real truck and this wouldn't be a problem.)
