355,000 Ford Trucks Recalled for Malfunctioning Digital Gauge Cluster

Ford’s latest recall comes courtesy of several trucks, which could have an issue that causes the digital gauge cluster to malfunction at startup. The problem affects more than 355,000 vehicles from the 2025 and 2026 model years.

The recall includes the Ford F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550. In affected trucks, the instrument panel cluster (IPC) may remain blank at startup. The issue occurs during the startup sequence in a narrow timeframe, causing a memory fault. The digital gauge cluster displays vehicle speed, fuel levels, and pertinent safety warnings, making its malfunction somewhat of a big deal for drivers. The failure also puts the vehicles at odds with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

While it has not received reports of accidents or injuries related to the problem, Ford said it had received 95 warranty claims. Interestingly, Ford noted that 65 percent of the connected vehicles it inspected had ignition cycle events that could cause the gauge cluster issue and said that it believed the problem could become more common over time.

Unlike many recent Ford recalls, this one can be fixed with a simple over-the-air update, so owners won’t have to visit a dealer for a fix. Dealers were notified of the recall action this week, and owners are set to be notified by mail in early September.

And people are always bagging on Stellantis. Ford is setting records for recalls that will never be broken

To be fair, in the last 5 years (2020-2025), there was one year where Ford did NOT lead the industry in recalls. That was 2024 when FCA had 72 recalls to Ford's 66. That could be what these children are screaming about lol.

But, from 2020-2025, the difference is staggering:

      Ford: 398 recalls

      FCA: 244 recalls

Surprisingly my 2014 F-150 ecopoop didn’t have any recalls. But it sure was in the shop a lot, both turbo’s, two rear main seal replacements, transmission failure and a leaking front cover. All before 80,000 mi, thankfully I had an extended warranty should be automatically done for ford products,

  • Normie I like Corey's posts because his earnest effort makes for a civilized comment space. And I get more information and curiosity from his lavish coverage of a car that was never "me" than from any articles I've seen about my cherished tall & boxies.
  • Bookish So some lawyer comes up with a scam to shake down the auto industry and the NYT makes it an ethical crusade against Ford. And you repeat it moralistically and uncritically.
  • Normie "Big Oil"From OZ?
  • AZFelix This generation of Cadillac articles also shows consistent placement of photos relative to the corresponding text.
  • Biff Finally the chickens have come home to roost. I have been saying this for three years: just wait until the EV’ers have to pay the road tax. Lets not forget that it’s California we are talking about and they have never met a tax they didn’t like. Plus it’s “the rich” buying new cars so its a double “lets tax’em!” The solution is simple enough. Have EV’s go into emissions stations as part of license plate renewal. Except here record the milage and get a bill for the cost. The rate should be around 1.5X the comparable gas size vehicle due to added weight. Lets watch the progessive politics swallow this one!
