Used Car of the Day: 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV
Today we go back to the '70s with this 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV.
The engine and transmission have been rebuilt and so has the A/C, which now apparently works well. The interior has been reupholstered and this car rides on Kumho rubber.
There's also a carbon-fiber driveshaft.
You can find this one in San Francisco for $58,000. Click here for more.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

- Urlik Like Toyota/Lexus they’ll be glad to sell you a monthly music subscription, Amazon Music and Apple Music subscription required separately. It will all cease to work when the current cell phone technology is replaced.
- Crtfour These used cars of the day just seem to keep getting better with time. Even with a low dollar car, you would think that someone could at least take 20 minutes to vacuum it, close the glove box lid, and remove the can of whatever that is on the center console. Does anyone know what that is?

- HooDingle Always loved the back of the later coupes, simple and elegant.
- W Conrad So far they are on their own towing this stupid invisible line in the sand. If another company joins them, it could snowball. Bad news for everyone. I don't care if GM wanted to give me a free car, I don't want it if I have to use their slop (and I'm not even an Apple user - it seems Android users aren't as bad off).

The only good thing about California these days is that it is a mecca for older vehicles. On a trip out there 5-6 years ago I saw a bunch of 80's and 90's vehicles mostly in pretty good shape. I wonder how many older vehicles were lost in the wildfires? HEY TIM That would be a great article.
I really like these but 1) you'll never not have something - often major - to fix and 2) like any car of that era, rust is a major concern. This example looks pretty good on the surface but to be worth its asking price, what you can't see is much more important.
