Volkswagen EV Owners Can Now Access The Tesla Supercharger Network

Volkswagen has announced that it will now have access to Tesla's Supercharger electric-vehicle charging network.

If you own an ID.4 or ID.Buzz, you can access the network starting on Nov. 18, 2025. VW will be selling a DC fast-charging adapter that can connect the Combined Charging System (CCS) to the North American Charging System (NACS) both online and at dealers. You'll need the adapter to connect your Volkswagen to the Supercharger system.

The adapters will cost $200 for the owners of model-year 2025 vehicles, with a $100 rebate available to knock that price in half. All 2026 Volkswagen EVs will come standard with the adapter.

“This is great news for our EV owners,” said Petar Danilovic, Senior Vice President, Product Marketing and Strategy, Volkswagen of America, in a press release. “They will now be able to access the more than 25,000 DC fast chargers on the Tesla Supercharger network across the United States, in addition to the more than 5,000 fast chargers on Electrify America’s grid. This makes life much more convenient, whether you are taking a road trip or you rely on public charging should home charging not be an option.”

These adapters won't work with Level 1 or Level 2 AC chargers. These are for DC Level 3 chargers, thanks.

VW owners will be able to use the Tesla app to find stations and pay for the juice.

Excellent news for the Electrify America charging network. Because VW tossed in three years' free charging on the first few years of the ID4's run, those chargers are usually occupied by...you guessed it...ID4s.

(How do I know this, you ask? Hmmmm...)

  There is a chance VWoA will infect Electrify America with it's VAGness and pretty soon the chargers will work as reliably as "German engineering".

Andarris Here in the Toronto area I haven't seen a 2006-2012 with intact rocker pannels for over two years now. I presume everywhere around the Great Lakes is the same ? They were super cheap dhring the first two years of the pandemic - could get one with less than 85K for around $6500 certified or a little higher mileage for $5000. Glad I skipped it, even in 2021 some of the 10's &11's were displaying corosion like you'd see on a 7 year older Impala, Camry or Accord. Also the mid-model switch to EPS made me balk at the few clean ones I found.

I only fly out of PDX or EUG to LAS or OAK and OGG then back .. have never been delayed in the last ?30-ish? trips to vegas/disneyland/maui/cruise ship vacations.... EUG has contract tsa so we never have any TSA delays. unsure which airports have PRIVATE contract TSA that is UNAFFECTED by the deadlock that i HOPE NEVER EVER END.

Michael S6 The 3 Amigos better hope that the oil spike is short lived as 4-5 dollar a gallon gas would put a damper on their cash cows especially "Ford's strategic shift" of killing off the escape/Lincoln cousin. Most other automakers have a full line of vehicles with much better full economy. GM is sucking air and its Cadillac devision is mostly EV and geriatric line up of ICE cars and SUV's that were supposed to be phased out this year. The expensive gas may push shoppers toward EV but GM's horrible EV reliability is a barrier.
