Well, he's a 15-year-plus auto industry veteran, who was born and raised in the Motor City! He lived several years in Japan, speaks and reads Japanese, and now works for American Honda Motor. (Although this channel is his own & not affiliated) He's owned several fun cars including an Evo IV, multiple Civic Si, Focus RS, and most recently the Integra Type S (which he led planning for Acura)!

He's also been lucky enough to drive just about every key new product in the market from compact cars to SUVs and EVs as well as super cars! If that isn't enough to prove his "car guy" status, Rivers has also been featured in Motor Trend, Car and Driver, AutoBlog, Jay Leno's Garage, Raiti's Rides and the Savage Geese channels! Summary

Exterior design

The Nexa is described as an extremely futuristic, low-slung coupe with dramatic proportions and aggressive surfacing. Its matte titanium paint, deep character lines, functional aerodynamic vents, and extensive forged-carbon elements give it a high-performance appearance. The long dash-to-axle ratio and heavily raked windshield are particularly striking.

One of the concept's most distinctive features is its lighting technology. Acura integrates the lights beneath the painted surface so that they appear to “bleed” through the bodywork when illuminated. The headlights and taillights incorporate shapes inspired by Acura's brake calipers, creating a visual connection between lighting and performance hardware.

The concept also features:

    • 21-inch front wheels with 275/35 ZR21 Pirelli tires
    • 22-inch rear wheels with 325/30 ZR22 tires
    • Acura's first application of a center-lock wheel design
    • Large carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes
    • Camera-based side mirrors rather than conventional mirrors
    • Forged-carbon side skirts and aerodynamic components
    • An active rear spoiler and rear diffuser
    • Dramatic butterfly doors

At the rear, the concept is exceptionally wide and low. The active spoiler integrates neatly into the bodywork, while the illuminated Acura lettering and caliper-inspired taillights reinforce the new design language.

Interior

The reviewer is arguably even more impressed by the interior. Although he acknowledges that the Nexa is a concept and isn't intended for production as shown, he sees the cabin as a strong indication of where Acura could go in the future.

The driving position is inspired by hypercars and race cars. Rather than adjusting the seats, the seats remain fixed while the steering wheel and pedals move toward the driver. The arrangement is intended to emphasize Acura's performance and motorsport heritage.

Despite the dramatically shaped windshield and butterfly doors, the cabin reportedly has excellent visibility. Glass extends above the occupants' heads, creating an unusually open and airy feeling for such an exotic design.

Materials are another major focus. The cabin is dominated by Alcantara, with aluminum and forged carbon throughout. The concept uses recycled aluminum as part of Acura's sustainability effort. A black-and-white color scheme is accented by striking bright pink details, including the seat belts, ambient lighting and rear seating area.

The minimalist cockpit features a very thin, yoke-like steering wheel, paddle shifters and a floating digital display. The concept's graphics include temperature maps and a navigation route from Acura's California design studio to Pebble Beach, referencing its planned Monterey Car Week debut.

Influence on future Acura vehicles

Perhaps the most important point of the video is that the Nexa isn't simply an isolated styling exercise. The reviewer shows a forthcoming Acura hybrid SUV and points out how elements of the concept are already appearing in its design.

These include:

    • Acura lettering across the rear
    • Caliper-inspired LED taillights
    • Similar surfacing and proportions
    • Other elements of the Nexa's new visual identity

The Nexa therefore serves as a design manifesto for Acura's next generation of vehicles, rather than merely previewing one future model.

Overall takeaway

The transcript presents the Acura Nexa as a bold attempt to redefine Acura visually. Its combination of exotic proportions, hidden lighting, active aerodynamics, forged carbon, center-lock wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes and an Alcantara-heavy interior gives it the appearance of a futuristic performance car.

The key message is that Acura wants to move toward a more dramatic, technical and performance-oriented design language while maintaining recognizable brand cues. The upcoming hybrid SUV demonstrates that the concept's ideas are already migrating into more practical vehicles. The Nexa was scheduled to make its public debut at Monterey Car Week on Aug. 14, where additional details and images were expected.

Acura Nexera Vision — Best Design Concept Ever?

    No.

Wish Acura hired the guy fixing Dodge to put some real performance and design back into this brand. It’s hard to look at a Legend coupe door panel or seat and say this concept is better.

  • YaMoBeThere This is an egregiously bad AI generated article, the middle of the article is repeated twice... but yea go ahead and nitpick about my comment pointing that out
  • Slavuta Is this Ok if I use OEM all weather floor mats? Yes, the ones that came with 2011 Mazda3 were not good. But the ones in 2017 Mazda6 are excellent. BTW, in that picture, Grand Cherokee on Kumho tires. Is this also an advert or just coincidence?
  • Bar170111344 "GM was on track to spend $31.7 billion on compliance technology through 2031."I'll just mention, that expenditure would have gone into research and development, and that would have driven U.S. manufacturing innovation. On the industrial side, R&D is necessary for U.S. manufacturers to remain competitive in the world. It's absolutely no surprise China is running rings around us. The prospective $ savings GM is looking forward to hasn't impressed the stock market. Year-to-date return of -5.65%. -7.05% in the last month. PE 20:1, inflated by the falling share price. Not to be insulting by any stretch, but it has never been like Mary Barra to get out ahead of anything. She's not an innovator and not a risk taker. She's a good engineer.Honestly - in that industry, which I worked in for decades, being regulated is like having a security blanket. You can be mediocre, blame it on regulation, and still make a buck. And with the federal government now digging an even deeper moat around GM and Ford, it's clearly suppressing American innovation and excellence.
  • Jks168824641 Mercedes, 2023 GLC 300’s start/stop feature is so smooth and seamless that I hardly notice it. I really appreciate it in slow traffic or drive through lanes for fast food
  • SCE to AUX While the spirit of this basic car is what people say they want, they buy $70k trucks instead because that's the only thing on dealer lots. /s
