We're going north of the border today for this 1982 Datsun 280ZX.

It has a fuel-injected 2.8-liter engine, four-wheel disc brakes (ventilated in the front), power-assisted steering, T-bar roof, vocalized warning system, tinted windows, alloy wheels, and analog guages.

It has a five-speed stick.

It's a deluxe model, meaning it has A/C, power windows, and dual rearview mirrors that are controlled from inside the cabin.

Finally, the car also has the original radio and cassette deck, plus a power antenna.

If this sort of thing interests you, the car is for sale in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada for $20,000 CAD. There are 180K kilometers (or miles, it's not clear) on it. Apparently it's also been rust-proofed and never sees water unless it's being washed.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

Allowing for the usual hidden bugs, seems a worthwhile investment.

Drive a co-workers 5spd for a few hours in 82. Very different from domestic and impressive. Only thing I didn't love was the rear end dropped under "spirited" acceleration.
  • Ilo65710513 $91K for a Dodge Durango...should be called a Dodge Deranged.
  • ChristianWimmer I love how in this day and age something as simple as frigging car door handles have tons of electronics and built in complications stuffed into them…. It’s a frigging door handle! Why make them complicated?
  • Douglas How does the road/wind noise (and CVT groaning) compare to the outgoing Kicks? I had a 2023 Kicks SV as a rental car recently for about 4 weeks, and actually grew quite attached to it. Around town it was a fun commuter, but long interstate trips were loud and tiring.
  • Daniel J This was an odd duck. I knew folks who had these with over 200k miles on them and others that chucked a wobbly at 50k. I just liked the fact you could get an SS with lots of HP.
  • Dale I want to know if Kicks just keep getting harder to find? Do you think that Kicks will bring you peace of mind?
