Used Car of the Day: 2014 Chevrolet SS

Today we go large, powerful American sedan with V8 power via this 2014 Chevrolet SS.

This was one has 92K miles on it and a brand new engine -- which is a bit interesting, to put it mildly. The ad doesn't say why the engine has been replaced though it's an automatic, so that would, in theory, rule out a blown engine via a dumb gear change.*

(*if this a known problem with SSs, I wasn't aware of it).

Also new is the radiator, fuel pump, water pump, battery, belts, and pulleys. The brakes have been upgraded, as well.

Our seller says the car is in good shape overall and is being sold because the owner isn't putting enough miles on it.

The ask is $32,500 and the car is in California.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

If you are good with the auto in one of these wouldn't a retired Caprice PPV be a cheaper bet for roughly the same experience?

I think I'd be good with all that so long as I could get a real back seat.

Unobtanium nearing 100K for $32,5... yeahhhhhhh... nahhhhhhh... buy the collector grade example without collision damage/blemished title for more coin and not lose your shirt when you sell in the future.
