Matt P. has the skinny on CES today. He writes about what car people should be looking for from the annual tech-fest that's held in Las Vegas.

What, if anything, are you hoping to see when it comes to the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show? AI in cars? Self-driving tech? A new car model being launched? Something else?

Or maybe there's too much tech for you and you feel that most of it is vaporware.

Whatever the case is, you know what to do. Sound off below.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

Whatever Hyundai pays TTAC to promote is all I want for Christmas.

As my dad told me once, "Son, nothing is too good for you." 😉

    TG Sitrep, 8Jan2026:

    • I was all set to pull the trigger on a nice new Optima REDTOP® for my truck, since the one in my spouse's vehicle is working out so well, but my battery tester says the current battery is just fine. So I ordered a new battery analyzer instead. (My old one is from 2012, get off your high horse.)

    • Then I got a little crazy and ordered a new anode rod for my water heater, since it has been a while (how long? some dummy wrote in permanent marker on the side of the water heater, I wish they wouldn't do that, it just destroys the value of my property). Got the magnesium, not aluminum, since I don't need Alzheimer's like some of you. 20% off including tariffs.

Looks like it will be another tough year here in the U.S.A.

Did you have to drive up to Canada to find it in stock?
