Lucid Jumps On the Off-Road Bandwagon With New Gravity X Concept
Yesterday, we covered Cadillac’s new off-road electric concept, and today, it’s Lucid’s turn. The upstart automaker’s new Gravity SUV got the off-road treatment with the new Gravity X Concept, which features lifted suspension, a widened track, and unique styling.
Lucid chopped the SUV’s front and rear overhangs to give it better approach and departure angles, and all-terrain tires give it a beefier look overall. The automaker also fitted a roof box and LED lighting. While the upgrades don’t completely turn the Gravity into an off-road-ready SUV, they help give the minivan-like Lucid a more aggressive, imposing look.
The company hasn’t said whether or not it plans to build the Gravity X, but production of the regular Gravity has hit snags in recent times. That said, rugged off-road-looking vehicles sell like crazy, whether they ever hit the dirt or not, and Lucid believes its new SUV is a great platform for the format.
Design chief Derek Jenkins said, “The Lucid Gravity has redefined the limits of what an uncompromising SUV can achieve. The Lucid Gravity X concept expands on these core principles to explore new possibilities off the beaten path while showcasing the incredible capabilities of the Lucid Gravity. Lucid’s range, power, and versatility make it an ideal vehicle for those adventurers looking to explore further off-road.”

- EBFlex No....you can find plenty of used "fun" cars that are very reasonable with low miles. What does give me pause is the outrageous insurance and yearly registration fees. I shouldn't have to pay for a full year of road use when I can't use the car for half the year. Another factor is interest rates. The dolt that runs the fed is keeping them high for purely political reasons. They need to come down ASAP.
- 1995 SC I actually really like these. I love the Busso V6. And I will continue to admire them in someone else's driveway like all Alfas. I really want a 4c, but I don't quite hate myself enough
- 1995 SC I actually know a guy with one of these. Coolest Tercel ever. I don't mean anything derogatory by that.
- 1995 SC A Miata can be had for under 30. GTIs are still reasonable as is the Jetta GLI. GR86 is reasonable. Plenty of choices out there. If you look at things like the Mustang now versus even back in the 90s sure, it costs more, but it's performance envelope is also vastly higher.
- 1995 SC No. It gets great gas mileage.

Come on, you and i both know the folks who can afford this aren't the off road type.. the best that'll see if a puddle in whole foods (just like every other douche bag SUV) and the folks who do actually off road do so in 10+ year old vehicles because they're cheap to own and run.
I'm not saying an EV SUV won't work.. I'm just saying that the folks who can spend 100K on a SUV just don't use it to go off road... they go to the mall, or the coast, NOT to a dirt trail over a mountain and through a river/forest.
Think about every LR disco you've ever seen.. they're almost always immaculate, I've never seen one in a mud coat.
This one will be even rarer than a Lambo URUS.. you'll never see it on the trail.
(just my sarcastic POV)
"Your GMT-900 Tahoe will crap out its transmission and lifters well before this."'
I've owned the '07 since brand new, 230K miles, a ton of towing miles(75K easy) towing heavy stuff and the transmission has never been touched or the motor. Bought a 2014 and parked it to replace the 2007 at some point.
