Volkswagen fans will be pleased to learn the German brand’s lineup for the 2025 model year will apparently be the freshest array of machines it’s had on sale in some spell.

Over the last couple of model years, VW has hove updates and overhauls at each of its offerings, including the ID.4 and Atlas family in 2024. Now, a series of meaningful revisions to key models plus infotainment and voice assistant updates for 2025 allows the company a claim of each model being fresh within the last two years.

We already knew the Golf GTI and Golf R would be on the business end of facelifts for 2025, though we’ll let the transmission choices going forward remain unmentioned. The ID.4 received well-needed upgrades last year including fettled infotainment system and software, expunging some of the original design’s odd choices. Meanwhile, the Atlas and its Atlas Cross brother had a major refresh for the 2024 model year.

Coming up for 2025 are the hotly anticipated ID. Buzz, a machine we’re sure to see in ample supply at various and sundry car shows with more than a few decked out in flower regalia or a Cheech & Chong livery. Groovy.

In the mainstream, an apparent refresh of the Jetta and Jetta GLI are also in the cars, with an unveiling planned sometime before the end of this quarter. The popular Taos is also getting what’s billed as a major refresh for the 2025 model year, with its debut appearing in the third quarter of this calendar year. Finally, the tongue-twisting Tiguan is slated for a third-gen revamp as a 2025 model – details of that effort are expected later this year as well.

In short, it's a decent time to be hucking metal at a VW store. Through the first quarter of 2024, the brand had 82,101 deliveries with the Tiguan being its most popular model with 21,626 units on the books.

If the GTI only had physical climate buttons I would have bought one.

The Golf GTI/R sans physical HVAC buttons are not very attractive. The monster screen on the dash looks like it was designed by a kindergartener. 🥴 Long gone are the days when VeeDub interiors were at or among best in class. Acura or Audi will probably get my money when my Mk7.5 GTI needs trading in for something fresh, next spring.

TheMrFreeze JD Power's surveys mean nothing to me. We live in an age where we have unprecedented access to actual, relevant data, and by that I mean working mechanics who see all of these cars up close and are willing to share what's good and what's crap. The wife drives a Fiat 500...had I listened to JD Power or Consumer Reports or whatnot we never would have bought one, but more than one mechanic I talked to said they were pretty reliable cars. Bought one, guess what...it's been reliable.
Akear Mary Barra has little or no feel for the market. This is yet another reason why GM will perform better when she retires. Barra's track record at GM is about as good as Biden debate performance last week.
Peter Nissan should hire someone to explain basic economics to their Board of Directors.
Jeff China now has the manufacturing capacity to produce 1/3 of the World's vehicles but under the current geopolitical environment this will not happen. As someone above stated all bets are off if China invades Taiwan. What many don't understand is that China plans for the long term and can wait it out till the geopolitical environment becomes less hostile toward China. I am not endorsing Chinese trade just stating that China is preparing for the future.
3-On-The-Tree Im glad it was fixed in time that would’ve been a huge pain and inconvenience to you if it had broke. My 2009 C6 Corvette LS3 has been great with no recalls. My 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 actually had a recall for the gas tank and seat belt warning stickers about 10 years go and Toyota fixed it, got a new tank, fuel lines and stickers.
