Nissan is Giving the Frontier a Handful of Updates for the 2025 Model Year

The Nissan Frontier was aging badly when it got a complete overhaul for the 2022 model year, but it’s got significantly newer competition from all corners of its segment. Nissan has another upgrade ready for the 2025 model year, however, which will bring new styling, a better camera system, more towing capacity, and an improved interior.

Nissan gave the Frontier a new front fascia, and Pro-X/Pro-4X models got a new tailgate finisher and updated wheel designs. The truck has a six-foot bed, and towing is now up to 7,150 pounds, with all models gaining at least 500 pounds in capacity. An updated Intelligent Around View Monitor camera system improves off-road viewing angles, and the system now works at up to 12 mph.


All Frontier models now get a full suite of advanced driver assistance features, including lane departure alerts, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, high beam assist, adaptive cruise control, and rear parking sensors. The SL trim adds traffic sign recognition.

The truck retains its 3.8-liter V6 engine, which makes 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque. It’s mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and either rear or four-wheel drive. The two Pro trims get Bilstein off-road shocks, and the 4X adds an electronic-locking differential. Finally, the SL trim gets leather upholstery and a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel. It also gets LED exterior lighting and a ten-speaker Fender audio system.


Pricing details aren’t available yet, but Nissan will release more information as the truck’s late-summer on-sale date approaches.

    I Prefer NA engines as they are less maintenance intensive than turbocharged engines. My Ecoboost F150 had both turbos break, and that was $1000 a piece just in parts with a core charge for a 2014, couldn’t imagine what a new turbo would cost. Plus you out a small V4 or V6 pulling in a heavy full sized truck pulling that weight putting unnecessary wear and tear, and heat on the engine just to maintain the revs for the HP. And my Ecoboost for example didn’t get good gas mileage, my V8 Tundra actually gets better MPG.
