The year 2008 doesn't seem that long ago, although it is. It similarly seems like just yesterday that Saabs were still sold.

But, alas, Saab isn't really a thing anymore, at least not as a car company. So if you've got a thing for Swedish wagons, you'll need to find something like this used 2008 Saab 9-5 Sportcombi.

There are 135K miles on this one, which is for sale in Michigan. It has the Visibility Package, heated front and rear seats, and a moonroof. The seller has all the maintenance records.

Mods include a Stage 3 ECU, a performance exhaust, Saab intake with K&N filter, and all sorts of stuff involving the turbo and intercooler.

There are also lighting and cosmetic modifications.

Recent maintenance includes new brakes, front strut assemblies, valve cover gasket, tie rod ends, and more.

The only flaw here seems to be some rust.

You can get this Saab for $6,500. Click here to see more.

Tim Healey grew up around the auto-parts business and has always had a love for cars — his parents joke his first word was “‘Vette”. Despite this, he wanted to pursue a career in sports writing but he ended up falling semi-accidentally into the automotive-journalism industry, first at Consumer Guide Automotive and later at Web2Carz.com. He also worked as an industry analyst at Mintel Group and freelanced for About.com, CarFax, Vehix.com, High Gear Media, Torque News, FutureCar.com, Cars.com, among others, and of course Vertical Scope sites such as AutoGuide.com, Off-Road.com, and HybridCars.com. He’s an urbanite and as such, doesn’t need a daily driver, but if he had one, it would be compact, sporty, and have a manual transmission.

Based on the asking prices for previous Used Cars of the Day, this one might actually be reasonable, for someone interested in and willing to run/maintain an oddball vehicle, if the service records are available and demonstrate diligence.

I actually liked this iteration of 9-5. Might be my favorite.
  • Kwik_Shift_Pro4X Just what's needed for bumper-to-bumper traffic.
  • SCE to AUX "two days of performance driving school". There go the tires.
  • Pianoboy57 I hope we won't see rows and rows of overpriced high trims models no one will buy. You used to could get Chargers and Road Runners with base level trims that were a little bit above taxi cabs.
  • SCE to AUX "attempted to diffuse some of the tension"... defuse. The union has a point about Stellantis being adrift, but I don't know how any company can promise plant rehab investments and job security if business conditions won't support that. For a few short-term jobs, Stellantis could sink $1.5 billion into a plant that closes again in a few years.
  • SCE to AUX I know the Highlander has been gold for Toyota, but I really hated the 22 I drove while car shopping back then. The drivetrain was ponderous, controls were confusing, interior was cramped, and it rode like a truck. We ended up with the Santa Fe, much to Bd2's delight.
